Our second meeting further confirms that Bill is absolutely the right mentor for me. It transpires that we both have three different elements to what we do. Bill identifies that, for me, COLOUR CONSULTING could be a very viable and lucrative part of my business. Although this is something I started doing in 2006 talking it through with Bill makes me realise that it is the area of my business that can bring me the highest income over the shortest time frame. Unknown to me Bill does a lot of consulting for many high end brands and he feels colour is such a niche in the consulting realm that I could do well with it. The 'WOVEN TEXTILE ART' strand of my business is the longest established and most well knows aspect of my work and the 'TEXTILE DESIGN' element of my business is the newest and least explored area. Bill suggests that clarity is needed to present these three elements in a productive way to my clients. I must write three documents along with three sets of specific terms and conditions for each of the three areas of my business. These three departments must be represented in a corresponding way on my website. We begin to discuss money and the value of my work, always a tricky topic. As many designer / makers Bill points out that I am not charging enough for my work, either as an artist or a consultant.
