Ndidi Ekubia

Silverware

Ndidi Ekubia is a contemporary silversmith based in London. She has been making silverware since graduating from The Royal College of Art in 1998, taking part in exhibitions, entering into competitions and completing commissions. The current silverware ranges from spoons, bowls, drinking vessels, vases, wine coolers, and centrepieces. All pieces are made in a workshop environment usually by hand using traditional silversmithing techniques and are formed from silver sheet metal.

Work is currently sold through a growing network of prestigious galleries, art dealers and antique dealers. In addition, she sells direct to silverware collectors via Open Studios, Goldsmiths’ Fair, Collect and other specialist shows.

“I am excited by the sensual and rich forms that can be created in metal and believe my nature is reflected through my work. It is a delight to be absorbed in every stage from design to the finished piece. The rhythmic process of making, using hand raising techniques, can push the metal to its limits and emphasises the fluid vitally of each form”.

Ndidi Ekubia was mentored by Grant Macdonald in 2009-10
