I work primarily as a ceramicist, although my work includes painting and illustration too. My ceramic range includes beakers, mugs, bowls, plates, brush pots and more decorative vessels. Each individual piece is thrown in porcelain and then hand painted. The pots are adorned with lively sketches from our every day surroundings. Following themes such as cooking and gardening, going to the markets, and more eccentric subjects like the English lido swimmers at the Serpentine in London. My unique style of illustration on clay is distinctive and recognizable. It has received international recognition for its witty and playful charm.
My work has already proven to have a broad appeal, to ceramic lovers and to admirers of my quirky drawings alike. The success has been such, that I am no longer able meet the demand for my work. I am eager to expand and develop my range of ceramics and drawings, however I find myself restricted due to the overwhelming number orders for repeats of popular designs. I hope the Arts & Business Crafted project will help me to tackle these problems. I plan to use this opportunity to develop a new range of ceramics that are less labor intensive, finding ways of increasing productivity, and therefore making them more accessible to a wider international market.
